In the context of the Global Young Faculty (coordinated by MERCUR and funded by Stiftung Mercator), young scientists from the Ruhr University Alliance and representatives from industry work on interdisciplinary topics. As part of the project "Climate-conscious everyday life - climate-conscious society vs. paradoxical behavior of individuals", scientists have addressed questions of what climate-friendly behavior means and how individuals actually behave in everyday life. Researchers have been able to uncover paradoxical behaviors through qualitative interviews and a representative online survey. Dr. Köcher, a member of the Global Young Faculty, discussed these findings as part of a digital panel discussion with representatives of the NRW Ministry of the Environment, the NRW Consumer Center, Fridays-for-Future and a professor of environmental psychology. The event was moderated by Ms. Sabine Ziemke (known from WDR Lokalzeit Dortmund); she was supported by co-moderator and Global Young Faculty member Dr. Sommer, who took care of the live chat and questions from the virtual audience.
